Overview

Orsem was released just in time for the Loyalty’s Requiem event and Flame-type Phraeganoth raid. Being the featured 4★ in the Gacha made him widely available to players and as an attacking Dagger unit, he makes a valuable teammate. Orsem is built almost completely around his critical rate, with a Co-Ability and two Abilities boosting the probability of criticals. He may not be the sturdiest, but with his agility and fast-charging skills, all it takes is a little practice to keep this ice cannon out of harm’s way.

Strengths

Frequent Critical Hits

Being a fast attacker with high crit rate (23% upon completing the Mana Circle) means he often lands 2-3 critical hits in a combo.

Two Attack Skills

Two attack skills give Orsem excellent evasion with immunity frames, as he has up to three with an upgraded weapon.

Flurry Devastation

Flurry Devastation great in a single-target environment as he wails on foes.

Dagger Weapon Type

Dagger combo with AoE Force Strikes is strong, especially in crowded game modes such as Imperial Onslaught.

Weaknesses

Low Survivability

Like most dagger users, he has low survivability unless evasion is timed correctly. This makes him especially vulnerable to player mistakes and non-telegraphed attacks.

Relatively Weak Burst Damage

Criticals and Daggers are optimal for sustained damage, rather than burst damage during break state.

Not Specialized

Compared to Luther, Orsem has few debuff options available.

Dragon Recommendations

Leviathan provides a massive boost to Strength-- 40% base, 60% unbound. His attacks when Shapeshifting are just a bonus.

Vodyanoy has the second best Strength buff at 30% base and 45% unbound.

Poseidon and Poli’ahu are still good options. Split Strength/HP boosts aren’t the best for a Dagger user, but these will still add to his Strength and make good use of the Dragon slot. Note that while Poli’ahu has lower buffs, she does come with an attack that inflicts guaranteed freeze which is complementary to Orsem’s kit.

Mercury or Fubuki will suffice if no other options are available. While Mercury provides a higher boost, Strength boosts are most relevant to a damage-dealer.

Weapon Recommendations

Water Dagger will be the easiest weapon to get him, and it comes with yet another attack for increased evasion.

Ultramarine Knife is the next upgrade. Although its precursor, the Dreamer’s Greatsword, exceeds the Water Dagger in Strength, it is not recommended as that weapon loses its elemental advantage.

Lux Lamina is the best option at 5* rarity, but not readily available. This will be the weapon to aim for if heavily investing in Orsem or Luther.
